DRONE USE RULES

   Federal and state rules   

  • Registration: Register your drone with the FAA if it weighs more than 250 grams, and mark the registration number on the drone. 
  • Training: Recreational flyers must pass The Recreational UAS Safety Test (TRUST) and carry proof of passage. 
  • Licensing: Commercial operators need an FAA Part 107 license. 
  • Safety: Fly

  • Safety: Fly safely and responsibly. You  may face penalties for flying in a way that endangers the airspace,  interferes with emergency services, or flies near other aircraft. 
  • Altitude: Fly at or below 400 feet above ground level. 
  • Visual line of sight: Keep your drone within your visual line of sight at all times. 
  • Private property: Do not fly over private property without consent. Flying over it could be considered trespassing.
